The Mackinac Island Lilac Festival is a celebration of the island's famous lilacs, which bloom in late May and early June. The festival features a variety of events, including a parade, a dog and pony show, and a horse-drawn carriage tour of the island's historic landmarks.

4. Visit a local farmers market

Spring is the start of the growing season for many farmers in Michigan, and there's no better way to experience the bounty of the season than by visiting a local farmers market. You'll find fresh produce, artisanal foods, and handmade crafts at markets throughout the state. In West Michigan our favorite farmers market is the Muskegon Farmers Market. On the eastside of the state we like to visit the Midland farmers market.
